The flower fields at Rooted provide a beautiful backdrop for life's most memorable moments. Throughout the growing season, thousands of dahlias create a colorful setting for family portraits, engagement sessions, maternity photography, senior portraits and more. And the beauty doesn't end when the season does. Our tall mature evergreen trees and open natural fields offer stunning backdrops for winter sessions and year-round shoots.

We welcome professional photographers for bookings at Rooted. To protect the beauty of our fields and keep the experience special for everyone, we ask that all photographers book in advance. You can view availability and reserve your session below.

The fields are beautiful on their own. But if you'd like to add a little something extra to your session, we've put together a few extras that make a day at Rooted even more memorable. Each add-on is available to include when you book.

Photography Add-On

U-Pick Rooted Bouquet

There's something genuinely special about cutting your own flowers. Our U-Pick add-on lets you and your clients walk the rows and gather blooms right from the field — snipping their own bouquet as part of the session itself. It's an experience as much as a prop, and the photos it creates are some of the most natural and joyful we've seen come out of our fields. Available during dahlia season when blooms are at their best.

What's Included:

  • Vase to keep flowers hydrated as your pick, flowers will be wrapped at end of session
  • 1 pair cutting shears for flowers to be used during session
  • Add on includes maximum of 25 stems per add-on. If multiple clients are expecting to cut, consider additional add on quantities. 

Photography Add-On

Scenic Campfire

There's something about a fire that changes everything. Our campfire add-on sets you up with a crackling fire and natural stump seating nestled among the trees. A warm, intimate setting that feels worlds away from the dahlia fields just steps behind you. It's a beautiful contrast for your session and one of those details that makes a gallery feel complete. Perfect for fall sessions, family portraits, and engagement shoots where you want variety in your backdrop without going far. Available as an add-on to any photography session.

What's Included:

  • Small, scenic campfire built and stoked during your entire booking
  • 4-6 natural stump stools settled around fire for seating

Photography Add-On

Pre-Arranged Rooted Bouquet

A hand-gathered bouquet of freshly cut dahlias and seasonal flowers, made for you before your session begins. Our pre-made bouquets are put together the morning of your shoot using whatever is in peak bloom that day. Every bouquet is a little different and entirely of the season. A beautiful prop for portraits, maternity sessions, and editorial work. No foraging, no fuss. Just fresh flowers ready and waiting when you arrive.

  • 20-stem wrapped bouquet featuring seasonal dahlias. Contact us at hello@rooteddahlias for specific color requests
  • Vase to keep flowers hydrated while you shoot, flowers will be wrapped at end of session

Rooted is a working family flower farm in Long Lake, Minnesota. By partnering with a limited number of photographers and scheduling sessions in advance, we're able to provide a peaceful setting while preserving the beauty of the flowers throughout the season.
